This is backed up by <a href="http://www.kimharding.net/blog/?p=1687" rel="nofollow">these findings from the National Travel Survey for 2010</a>, which shows that 20% of people said they took walks of 20 minutes less than once a year or never. Also, that in 2010, 20% all trips less than one mile (1.6 KM) in length were made by car. <br /><br />So no need to worry about this fear mongering RAC Foundation. Car dependency culture is here to stay. The press release forgot to include the autoroute tax all the way from Calais to Monaco. That hurts more than the fuel, though at least you can drive at 80-90 once you've paid up. <br /><br />3. France lowers its speed limits when the weather is bad. Can you imagine what would happen if that was applied in Scotland?
